Troubleshooting
Diagnose configuration, connectivity, indexer, and queue-cleanup problems.
Start with the live container output:
docker compose logs -f warrdenTemporarily set logLevel: debug in config.yaml when the normal summary does not show enough detail.
Config file not found
wArrden expects data/config.yaml inside its working directory, which is /app/data/config.yaml in the image. Confirm config.yaml exists beside compose.yaml and that the Compose volume still contains:
- ./config.yaml:/app/data/config.yamlCreating the container before the host file exists can create the wrong mount shape. Create the file first, then recreate the container.
No jobs are scheduled
At least one instance and one job within it must have enabled: true. Disabled instances make no API calls. Queue cleanup also needs at least one configured rule for that instance type.
API key rejected
An HTTP 401 or 403 disables that instance for the life of the current process. Correct the API key in config.yaml, then recreate the container so wArrden validates it again.
Instance cannot be reached
Connection and other environmental failures are reported as warnings and retried on the next scheduled cycle. Verify that the configured url resolves and is reachable from inside the container network.
Search says no enabled indexers
wArrden only uses indexers that the arr application marks for automatic search. Check that at least one is enabled. If indexerFilter is active, compare its case-insensitive include and exclude names with the available indexer names; exclusions take priority.
Queue items are not cleaned
Only warning items are evaluated. A matcher with action: none is intentionally inactive, and an unknown matcher key is skipped with a startup warning. Compare the queue message with the exact messages documented in config.example.yaml.
Timestamps or schedules use UTC
Set TZ to a valid IANA timezone such as America/Los_Angeles. An invalid value produces a warning and falls back to UTC.
Container identity setup fails
PUID and PGID must either both be zero or both be positive integers, and they must be supplied together. The container also needs permission to update ownership of /app/data during startup.
